Catch the Spirit: 8 Lucky Elite Swimmers Invited to Developmental Camp June 11 Summer Competition Coming Into Focus Elite & Madison Community Pool to Host Summer Meets Practice Schedule Changes Practice Schedule this Week ![]() BIG KIDS “MADNESS” IN BIG POOL
Yesterday, Elite Seniors, Senior Preps and Wave Golds competed in their 1st “Long Course” competition of the summer season at Heat Madness, held at Rutgers University with very impressive results. As a play on the phrase “heat madness,” the host team Scarlet Aquatic Club awarded gag gifts to each “heat” winner (such as baseball caps, lais, towels, bouncey balls). By the end of the meet, Elite swimmers had earned a variety of gifts due to their very fast swimming. Long course, with delineates a 50 meter course (more than twice the length of Newark Academy) is a considerably more difficult venue to compete in (less turns, more fatigue) than short course. Long course is also the size of the pool most international (including the Olympics) are held in. Particularly impressive swims for Elite included: 1) new Elite swimmer Chris Dart, whom is among the fastest swimmers in the state, placed 1st in all three of his events and dropped time in two from previous long course bests. Chris not only qualified for LC Junior Olympics in each event (200 IM, 200 back & 400 Free) but also qualified to represent New Jersey in the Summer Eastern Zone meet in all three events as well. 2) ) Priya Duvvuri, whom qualified for LC Junior Olympics in both the 50 fly & 50 back 3) Austin Meszaos, whom qualified for LC Junior Olympics in the 100 free 4) Brittany Ross, whom qualified for LC Junior Olympics in the 200 IM and just missed the 200 fly cut 5) Duncan Hall, whom qualified for LC Junior Olympics in the 50 back and just missed the 50 fly cut 6) Lindsay Scott, whom just missed qualifying for the LC Junior Olympics in the 200 IM 7) Nick Trojanowski, whom just missed qualifying for the LC Junior Olympics in the 100 free 8) New Elite swimmer Crissy Condus, whom dropped significant time in her 400 free 9) Kate Donatelli, whom just missed the LC Junior Olympic 50 fly cut 10) Katie Psillakis, whom despite separate leg injuries to each leg this spring, posted 2 best times 11) Alistair Hall, who had an 11 second drop in his 100 breast time Swimmers whom participated were:

Elite’s tentative meet & event schedule for the Fall/Winter 2005-06 season is now posted on the website under Meet Schedule!! With regards to the New Jersey Swimming meets and the elite “event dates” (suit sale, annual dinner, etc), these dates are reasonably set (venues have been contacted and dates reserved). With regards to the dual meets/intraclub meets Elite will hold next winter, these dates are not as firmly set as fall & winter schedules of both Newark Academy and Morristown-Beard School plus confirmation with opposing teams has not yet occurred. X-Celence: All Elite Seniors, Senior Preps, Wave Golds and Wave Blacks will compete in this two-day long course meet held Saturday, June 18 & Sunday, June 19 at Princeton University. Because this is a “new” long course meet, the slower cut times allow for all levels of Elite swimmers to compete. In addition, Princeton University’s pool now boasts a state of the art “Diamond-Vision” scoreboard!!! Summer Sizzle: The most prestigious and competitive meet of the summer season, Elite has entered 7 qualifying swimmers into this meet held at Rutgers University. The meet will be held Friday, June 25 thru Sunday, June 27. Entries and meet information are posted on the website. Fast Factor Challenge I: As previously announced Elite, in conjunction with Madison Community Pool, will be hosting a 12 & Under New Jersey Swimming sanctioned meet on Saturday, July 9 at the Madison Community Pool. This will be the only New Jersey Swimming meet held “outdoors” this summer (and the first in almost 10 years!!). All Elite Wavebuster Golds and Wavebuster Blacks, whom are 12 & Under will be entered in this meet. Meet information and entries will be posted within the next two weeks. Parents of those Elite swimmers participating will be asked to volunteer their services to time, marshall, etc. 12 & Unders Silver/Bronze Long Course Championships: Due to the increased participation in summer meets, New Jersey Swimming has gone to a Silver/Bronze format in an attempt to accommodate as many swimmers as possible. The 12 & Under Silver/Bronze Long Course Championship will be held Saturday, July 16 & Sunday, July 17 at Rutgers University. All Elite Wave Golds and Wave Blacks training with Elite this summer will be entered into this meet. 13 & Older Silver/Bronze Long Course Championships: The 13 & Under Silver/Bronze Long Course Championship will be held Saturday, July 23 & Sunday, July 24 at Rutgers University. All Elite swimmers training with Elite this summer will be entered into this meet. Long Course Junior Olympics: All those Elite swimmers whom have qualified for long course Junior Olympics thru their summer 2005 competition will be entered into JO’s, to be held Friday, July 29 thru Sunday, July 31 at Rutgers. Eastern Long Course Zones: Any Elite swimmer who has qualified to represent New Jersey Swimming in the Eastern Zones Meet will be highly encouraged to apply for this prestigious meet. In the summer, “Zone” teams are fielded by long course qualifying times. This summer’s Eastern Long Course Zones meet will be held in Buffalo, New York from Wednesday, August 10 thru Saturday, August 13. ![]() ELITE & MADISON COMMUNITY POOL TO HOST SUMMER MEETS The Elite Swim Club and the Madison Community Pool (“McP”) will host two separate swim meets this summer during the weekend of Saturday, July 9th and Sunday, July 10th. Believing that the local area swimmers need more opportunities to compete against higher level competition during the summer months, Elite and McP have come up with a unique formula to provide that competition. On Saturday morning July 9th, Elite, McP & New Jersey Swimming will host a 12 & Under New Jersey Swimming sanctioned swim meet at the Madison Community Pool (located at Rosedale Avenue at Parkside-just off Route 124-Main Street Madison). This meet will be held solely for swimmers currently registered with New Jersey Swimming (all Elite swimmers are so registered). All Elite Wave Golds and Wave Blacks whom are 12 & Under and whom are training with Elite this summer will be entered in this meet by Bill. Those Elite swimmers who are not training with Elite but would like to compete in this meet will need to contact Bill to enter (and pay the required entry fee). On Sunday morning July 10th, Elite and McP will host a meet for 12 & Unders for all swimmers participating in summer leagues. All Elite swimmers will be encouraged to enter this meet thru their summer league teams. The entry deadlines for both meets is Wednesday, June 29. Meet information on both meets will be posted shortly on Elite’s website. All 12 & Under Elite swimmers are encouraged to participate in each meet!
