As hard as this may be to believe, there are only two weeks left in the Spring 2005 Session. The last day of Spring 2005 Session is Friday, June 10. From a curriculm standpoint, this session was broken in half. During the 1st part of the session, coaches and swimmers focused on stroke technique and body position drills designed to increase the efficiency of each arm stroke. During the 2nd part of the session, coaches and swimmers have remained focused on these improvements while adding conditioning sets, intended to couple the increased efficiency with increased overal swimming strength. Information regarding the Summer 2005 Session for Seniors, Senior Preps, Wavebuster Golds and Wavebuster Blacks is posted on the website. Information regarding the Fall/Winter 2005-06 Session will be mailed out in mid-June. ![]() HEAT MADNESS THIS SUNDAY Sixty-three Elite swimmers consisting of all swimmers within the Seniors, Senior Preps and Wavebuster Gold training groups will compete in the annual Heat Madness Swim Meet this Sunday on June 5th at Rutgers University. Congratulations to our Elite swimmers!! Enjoy your day!! ![]() CHARITY SWIM TOTALS BEING TALLIED In truly demonstrating their“Eliteness,”29 swimmers unselfishly swam (frolicked?) for two hours to raise money for their favorite charities this past Saturday afternoon at Morristown-Beard School. Elite-a-thon, conceived three years ago by Will Peters; was again coordinated from start to finish by Will. Like the previous three Elite-a-thon’s, this year’s event was structured so each indvidual participating raised money for the “charity of their choice.” Swimmers got their family and friends to “sponsor” their swims, which money will then be donated to the charity of their choice. According to Will, the 1st three Elite-a-thon’s raised a combined total of approximately $25,000. Swimmers who participated in the swim on Saturday were: Carly Abenstein, Arjun Arora, Ryan Buckham, Sarah Carragher, Monica Carty, Marshall Cohen, Clarice Davey, Peter Davey, Corey Deatly, Tad Deatly, Mickey Ennis, Amna Farooqi, Alistair Hall, Duncan Hall, Kirsten Kellstrom, Katie Kilcullen, Jesse Lowe, Annie McCullough, Katie McCullough, Maggie Nelson, Alix Ober, Bud Peters, Will Peters, Abigail Rollenhagen, Lindsay Scott, Veronica Smith, Lindsay Stearns, Kara Stevens, Sydney Todd & Nick Trojanowski Will is still tallying the results of the pledges. He will provide that information shortly. For the 2nd year in a row, Bill swam and he completed 120 laps (twice last years total!!). Bill’s swim will raise money for Our House Foundation: a public, non-profit organization that provides residential, employment, social and recreational programs for adults and adolescents with developmental and learning disabilities. ![]() SUMMER SESSION INFORMATION POSTED Information regarding Elite’s Summer 2005 Session has been posted on the website. The tentative schedule for Seniors and Senior Preps is for Elite to start Saturday, June 11 at Springfield. “Doubles” will start the following Monday, June 13 at Springfield in the am and Morristown-Beard in the pm. Below is the tentative schedule (please note that only current Wave Blacks, Wave Golds, Senior Preps and Seniors will be entered into these meets-there is no formal training or competition for Elite Wave Teals, Marlin Blacks or Marlin Teals who should train with their summer clubs). Heat Madness: All Elite Seniors, Senior Preps and Wave Golds will compete in this one-day meet on Sunday, June 5 at Rutgers University. Because the meet is only one day and is long course, there is a limited amount of events offered. Meet entries and information are posted on the website. X-Celence: All Elite Seniors, Senior Preps, Wave Golds and Wave Blacks will compete in this two-day long course meet held Saturday, June 18 & Sunday, June 19 at Princeton University. Because this is a “new” long course meet, the slower cut times allow for all levels of Elite swimmers to compete. In addition, Princeton University’s pool now boasts a state of the art “Diamond-Vision” scoreboard!!! Summer Sizzle: The most prestigious and competitive meet of the summer season, Elite has entered 7 qualifying swimmers into this meet held at Rutgers University. The meet will be held Friday, June 25 thru Sunday, June 27. Entries and meet information are posted on the website. Fast Factor Challenge I: As previously announced Elite, in conjunction with Madison Community Pool, will be hosting a 12 & Under New Jersey Swimming sanctioned meet on Saturday, July 9 at the Madison Community Pool. This will be the only New Jersey Swimming meet held “outdoors” this summer (and the first in almost 10 years!!). All Elite Wavebuster Golds and Wavebuster Blacks, whom are 12 & Under will be entered in this meet. Meet information and entries will be posted within the next two weeks. Parents of those Elite swimmers participating will be asked to volunteer their services to time, marshall, etc. 12 & Unders Silver/Bronze Long Course Championships: Due to the increased participation in summer meets, New Jersey Swimming has gone to a Silver/Bronze format in an attempt to accommodate as many swimmers as possible. The 12 & Under Silver/Bronze Long Course Championship will be held Saturday, July 16 & Sunday, July 17 at Rutgers University. All Elite Wave Golds and Wave Blacks training with Elite this summer will be entered into this meet. 13 & Older Silver/Bronze Long Course Championships: The 13 & Under Silver/Bronze Long Course Championship will be held Saturday, July 23 & Sunday, July 24 at Rutgers University. All Elite swimmers training with Elite this summer will be entered into this meet. Long Course Junior Olympics: All those Elite swimmers whom have qualified for long course Junior Olympics thru their summer 2005 competition will be entered into JO’s, to be held Friday, July 29 thru Sunday, July 31 at Rutgers. Eastern Long Course Zones: Any Elite swimmer who has qualified to represent New Jersey Swimming in the Eastern Zones Meet will be highly encouraged to apply for this prestigious meet. In the summer, “Zone” teams are fielded by long course qualifying times. This summer’s Eastern Long Course Zones meet will be held in Buffalo, New York from Wednesday, August 10 thru Saturday, August 13. ![]() ELITE & MADISON COMMUNITY POOL TO HOST SUMMER MEETS The Elite Swim Club and the Madison Community Pool (“McP”) will host two separate swim meets this summer during the weekend of Saturday, July 9th and Sunday, July 10th. Believing that the local area swimmers need more opportunities to compete against higher level competition during the summer months, Elite and McP have come up with a unique formula to provide that competition. On Saturday morning July 9th, Elite, McP & New Jersey Swimming will host a 12 & Under New Jersey Swimming sanctioned swim meet at the Madison Community Pool (located at Rosedale Avenue at Parkside-just off Route 124-Main Street Madison). This meet will be held solely for swimmers currently registered with New Jersey Swimming (all Elite swimmers are so registered). All Elite Wave Golds and Wave Blacks whom are 12 & Under and whom are training with Elite this summer will be entered in this meet by Bill. Those Elite swimmers who are not training with Elite but would like to compete in this meet will need to contact Bill to enter (and pay the required entry fee). On Sunday morning July 10th, Elite and McP will host a meet for 12 & Unders for all swimmers participating in summer leagues. All Elite swimmers will be encouraged to enter this meet thru their summer league teams. The entry deadlines for both meets is Wednesday, June 29. Meet information on both meets will be posted shortly on Elite’s website. All 12 & Under Elite swimmers are encouraged to participate in each meet! There is nothing in this world like swimming fast outdoors!!!! ![]() PRACTICE SCHEDULE CHANGES The following are the anticipated practice schedule changes June: 1) Sunday, June 5: Due to the Heat Madness meet at Rutgers University, no practice for Wave Golds, Senior Preps and Seniors. 2) Friday, June 10: Last practice for Spring Session ![]() PRACTICE SCHEDULE THIS WEEK
