Entry into Elite

  All swimmers interested in becoming an Elite Swim Club member “tryout” for the team at a formal tryout held in late March, late July or early September. Swimmers are accepted thru a combination of their talent and what openings Elite has at the prospective swimmers level.

   At tryouts, swimmers will be asked to swim 3 times: 1) free and 2) and 3) are the swimmers choice of back, breast and butterfly. These swims are timed.

    While the swimmers are racing during tryouts, Elite coaches are watching each swimmer perform and make comments regarding each swimmer’s stroke technique. Between the times achieved and the review of the strokes, Head Coach Bill Deatly will place an accepted swimmer in the appropriate training group. From there, swimmers will be promoted into higher training levels thru commitment (see attendance/promotion page) and thru training with the top swimmers in their training group.

    The next Elite tryouts are Tuesday, March 23 at 4:30 pm at Newark Academy.
