AND SWIMMERS ARE REMINDED ABOUT ATTENDANCE, PERFORMANCE FOR PROMOTION:

As the Winter Season moves towards Championship Season (late February & early March), Elite Coaches will be making decisions regarding which swimmers will be promoted into a higher training group come this spring.

Swimmers (& parents) are reminded that there are 3 criteria for promotion: 1) attendance  2) stroke technique and 3) performance.

With regards to attendance, as swimmer in the Marlin Teal, Marlin Black, Wave Teal & Wave Black training groups must have a minimum attendance rate of 70% to be considered for promotion. Swimmers in the Wave Gold and Senior Preps must have a minimum attendance rate of 85% to be considered for promotion. There will be no exceptions to this rule and it is the 1st hurtle a swimmer must cross to be considered for promotion!!

With regards to stroke technique, the coaches will need to make subjective decisions that a swimmer’s stroke technique has reached the level that is expected at the higher training group.

With regards to performance, swimmers need to be training in the highest training lanes within their training groups to be considered for promotion. Now that Elite is using the Doc Councilman Energy System for training, it will be relatively easy for the coaches to understand if a swimmer in the lower training group has the capacity to train at the higher group level (based on established distance and pace time intervals). If a swimmer is training in the highest training level within their training group, they are within the realm of possibility of being able to train at the higher training level. Performance in meets will also be a contributing factor.
