ELITE SWIMMERS SHINE AT FAST FACTOR CHALLENGE –SUMMER LEAGUE MEET:

 

            Although many were wearing their “summer league racing caps,” Elite swimmers dominated the first annual Fast Factor Challenge Meet held yesterday at the Madison Community Pool.

 

             Sixty-nine swimmers from ten summer league teams (Bee Meadow, Colony, Fells Brook, Fish & Game, Madison Community, Maplewood, Millburn, New Providence, Stardust & Summit) along with swimmers representing Elite participated in the co-hosted meet by the Madison Community Pool and Elite.

 

            The “Elite” highlight was the 11-12 Girls 100 IM where the top 6 places were all Elite swimmers: Shelby Dixon (1st), Emmie Lai (2nd), Clarice Davey (3rd), Kristina Beaudouin (4th), Audrey Gammel (5th) and Winnie Caetta (6th).

 

            Elite event winners were: Peter Davey (9-10 25 meter Free), Shelby Dixon (11-12  100 IM), Zach Katz (8 & Under 25 meter Breast) & Katie Gorman (9-10 25 meter Breast).

 

            Elite swimmers who participated were: Kristina Beaudouin, Courtney Brosnan, Meg Brosnan, Winnie Caetta, Clarice Davey, Peter Davey, Shelby Dixon, Kristen Fedor, Audrey Gammel, Katie Gorman, Zach Katz, Regan Kology, Emmie Lai, Melissa Montagna, Chris Plunkett & Andrea Shepard.     

 

“12 & UNDER SILVER/BRONZE” THIS WEEKEND; “13 & OLDER SILVER/BRONZE” NEXT WEEKEND:      

 

          The long course Championship Meets start this weekend at Elite will head to Rutgers University to compete starting this weekend. All swimmers training with Elite will be entered in one or more of the following meets (please check the website for the events and meet info):

 

            12 & Unders Silver/Bronze Long Course Championships:  The 12 & Under Silver/Bronze Long Course Championship will be held Saturday, July 16 & Sunday, July 17 at Rutgers University.

 

            13 & Older Silver/Bronze Long Course Championships:  The 13 & Under Silver/Bronze Long Course Championship will be held Saturday, July 23 & Sunday, July 24 at Rutgers University.

 

          Long Course Junior Olympics: All those Elite swimmers whom have qualified for long course Junior Olympics thru their summer 2005 competition will be entered into JO’s, to be held Friday, July 29 thru Sunday, July 31 at Rutgers.

 

            Eastern Long Course Zones: Any Elite swimmer who has qualified to represent New Jersey Swimming in the Eastern Zones Meet will be highly encouraged to apply for this prestigious meet. In the summer, “Zone” teams are fielded by long course qualifying times. This summer’s Eastern Long Course Zones meet will be held in Buffalo, New York from Wednesday, August 10 thru Saturday, August 13.

 

REMINDER: ROSTER SPOT DEPOSITS DUE MON, AUGUST 1ST:

 

            Swimmers and parents are reminded that the deposit to reserve a roster spot on Elite’s 2005-06 Winter Squad are due Monday, August 1st. Deposits should be mailed to Bill at 32 Prospect Street, Summit, New Jersey 07901.

 

            In addition to reserving a roster spot, the swimmer’s deposit triggers the purchases of each swimmers team uniform (this season: a racing suit, two personalized Elite racing caps, two t-shirts and a sweat shirt).

 

            Swimmers who fail to reserve their spot but who would like to train with Elite next season will be required to tryout for Elite on Tuesday, September 6th at Newark Academy.  

 

LENNY KRAZELBERG CLINIC AT JCC METROWEST:

 

            Olympic legend Lenny Krazelberg will host a week long swim clinic from August 1 thru August 5, 2005 at the JCC MetroWest located in Whippany, New Jersey.
