SIX SHINE AT SUMMER SIZZLE:

Competing in one of the most prestigious and competitive meets of the summer season, Elite swimmers Chris Dart and Michael Li brushed aside the difficulty of a lack of significant training (the hard summer training has just begun) and raced as if they were in mid-season form this past weekend at the annual Summer Sizzle Championship meet held at Rutgers University.

Dart, whom has just begun long course training for the 1st time in his career, improved slightly on last week’s sectional cut time in winning the Boys 13-14 100 backstroke in a 1.02.75. This time inched Chris closer to the 13 &14 Boys state record of 1.02.40. Chris also added super swims in both the 200 meter free (2.09.64) and the 100 meter butterfly (1.05.22).

Not to be outdone, Michael Li posted a sparkling 3.08.66 in placing 3rd in the Boys 11-12 200 meter breaststroke, which was the 1st time Michael has ever swum the event. Li, whom just turned 11 this April, just missed the Eastern Zone cut by 4 tenths of a second. Michael also dropped significant time in the 100 meter breast with a 1.28.85 in placing 7th.  Li also added a 6th place finish in his 50 meter breast time of 40.91.

Rounding out Elite’s representatives at this prestigious meet were:

Maggie Beaudouin: 200 free and 100 butterfly

Austin Meszaros: 200 Free

Lindsay Scott: 200 Breast and

Nick Trojanowski: 200 Free

HOW’S THIS FOR EARLY PLANNING?

TENTATIVE 2005-06 SCHEDULE NOW POSTED ON WEBSITE!!!:

Looking Ahead? Elite’s tentative meet & event schedule for the Fall/Winter 2005-06 season is now posted on the website under Meet Schedule!!

With regards to the New Jersey Swimming meets and the elite “event dates” (suit sale, annual dinner, etc), these dates are reasonably set (venues have been contacted and dates reserved).

With regards to the dual meets/intraclub meets Elite will hold next winter, these dates are not as firmly set as fall & winter schedules of both Newark Academy and Morristown-Beard School plus confirmation with opposing teams has not yet occurred.

Hope this helps out those who plan ahead!

FEAR FACTOR ENTRIES TO BE POSTED THIS WEEK:

As previously announced Elite, in conjunction with Madison Community Pool, will be hosting a 12 & Under New Jersey Swimming sanctioned meet on Saturday, July 9 at the Madison Community Pool.  This will be the only New Jersey Swimming meet held “outdoors” this summer (and the first in almost 10 years!!). All Elite Wavebuster Golds and Wavebuster Blacks, whom are 12 & Under will be entered in this meet.

Meet entries will be posted this week on Elite’s website.

Parents of those Elite swimmers participating will be asked to volunteer their services to time, marshall, etc.

SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON ALMOST UPON US:

With the extremely short summer season upon us, the Championship Meets are literally right around the corner. All swimmers training with Elite will be entered in one or more of the following meets:

12 & Unders Silver/Bronze Long Course Championships:  Due to the increased participation in summer meets, New Jersey Swimming has gone to a Silver/Bronze format in an attempt to accommodate as many swimmers as possible. The 12 & Under Silver/Bronze Long Course Championship will be held Saturday, July 16 & Sunday, July 17 at Rutgers University. All Elite Wave Golds and Wave Blacks training with Elite this summer will be entered into this meet.

13 & Older Silver/Bronze Long Course Championships:  The 13 & Under Silver/Bronze Long Course Championship will be held Saturday, July 23 & Sunday, July 24 at Rutgers University. All Elite swimmers training with Elite this summer will be entered into this meet.

Long Course Junior Olympics: All those Elite swimmers whom have qualified for long course Junior Olympics thru their summer 2005 competition will be entered into JO’s, to be held Friday, July 29 thru Sunday, July 31 at Rutgers.

Eastern Long Course Zones: Any Elite swimmer who has qualified to represent New Jersey Swimming in the Eastern Zones Meet will be highly encouraged to apply for this prestigious meet. In the summer, “Zone” teams are fielded by long course qualifying times. This summer’s Eastern Long Course Zones meet will be held in Buffalo, New York from Wednesday, August 10 thru Saturday, August 13.

ELITE  & MADISON COMMUNITY POOL TO HOST SUMMER MEETS:

The Elite Swim Club and the Madison Community Pool (“MCP”) will host two separate swim meets this summer during the weekend of Saturday, July 9th and Sunday, July 10th.

Believing that the local area swimmers need more opportunities to compete against higher level competition during the summer months, Elite and MCP have come up with a unique formula to provide that competition.

On Saturday morning July 9th, Elite, MCP & New Jersey Swimming will host a 12 & Under New Jersey Swimming sanctioned swim meet at the Madison Community Pool (located at Rosedale Avenue at Parkside-just off Route 124-Main Street Madison). This meet will be held solely for swimmers currently registered with New Jersey Swimming (all Elite swimmers are so registered).  All Elite Wave Golds and Wave Blacks whom are 12 & Under and whom are training with Elite this summer will be entered in this meet by Bill. Those Elite swimmers who are not training with Elite but would like to compete in this meet will need to contact Bill to enter (and pay the required entry fee).

On Sunday morning July 10th, Elite and MCP will host a meet for 12 & Unders for all swimmers participating in summer leagues. All Elite swimmers will be encouraged to enter this meet thru their summer league teams.

The entry deadlines for both meets is Wednesday, June 29.

Meet information on both meets will be posted shortly on Elite’s website. All 12 & Under Elite swimmers are encouraged to participate in each meet! There is nothing in this world like swimming fast outdoors!!!!
