Summer Sizzle Next for Select Few Summer Competition Coming Into Focus Elite & Madison Community Pool to Host Summer Meets Practice Schedule this Week ![]() LONG COURSE TIMES ARE “X-CELENT” AT PRINCETON: DART QUALIFIES FOR SECTIONALS Dozens of significant drops in times, Junior Olympic cut times and Elite’s 1st Sectional cut time in 2 years highlighted an enormously productive meet for Elite at the Meet of X-Celence held at Princeton University this past weekend. Competing in their 2nd long course meet within three weeks, Elite showed off their long, smooth strokes (developed from Elite’s body position stroke drills) by shaving off considerable time in virtually every race. Swimming fast in the “big pool” is a very good indication of great stroke technique and conditioning as the reduction of the number of turns increases the importance of the swimming component of the race. Coupled with the tremendous team effort, 13 different individual Elite swimmers turned in Junior Olymic qualifying swims. The Elite highlights included: 1) Newcomer Chris Dart (14) posted the 3rd individual Sectional cut time in Elite history in winning the 13-14 boys 100 backstroke in a blistering 1.02.85 time. Dart’s time is just .45 of a second off the state 13-14 Boys back record! Chris added 3 other Junior Olympic times in the 50 meter free (26.49), the 800 meter (9.27.08) and the 1500 meter swim (18.20.20). 2) Danielle Basile (16) posted her 1st two Junior Olympic Cut times ever by dropping 5.5 seconds in her 200 breast (3.08.96) and 3 seconds in her 100 breast (1.27.78). 3) Brittany Ross (14) continued her assault on the Junior Olympic cut times by adding four to her JO schedule: 100 back (1.19.15), 200 breast (3.15.37), 200 IM (2.48.73) & the very difficult 400 IM (5.52.49) 4) Carolyn DeMeo (12) rocketed to 3 Junior Olympic cut times in the 50 back (37.44), 50 Free (31.75), 50 fly (34.49) 5) Colleen Mason (14) added Junior Olympic times in her 100 fly (1.17.78) and her 200 back (2.49.59) 6) Newcomer Cassandra Farnow (14) posted a JO cut time in her 200 back (2.48.68) swim 7) Both fourteen year old Maggie Beaudouin (19.50.07) and sixteen year old newcomer Crissy Condus (20.26.27) cruised to JO cut times in the grueling 1500 meter swim 8) Nick Trojanowski (17) added two impressive JO times to his resume: the 1500 meter (19.04.46) free and the 400 IM (5.32.19) 9) Duncan Hall (12) added two JO times: the 100 back (1.24.59) and the 50 free (32.26) to his 3 other JO times. 10) Michael Li (11) added the 100 back (1.22.35) to his JO schedule 11) Eleven year old Priya Duvvuri added JO times with her 100 back (1.24.01) and 50 Free (32.66) swims 12) Newcomer Alex Gonzalez (16) cruised to a JO time in the 50 free (29.87) In addition, there were many, many fabulous swims as Elite swimmer after Elite swimmer destroyed previous best times. In the summer, “Zone” teams are fielded by long course qualifying times. This summer’s Eastern Long Course Zones meet will be held in Buffalo, New York from Wednesday, August 10 thru Saturday, August 13. ![]() ELITE & MADISON COMMUNITY POOL TO HOST SUMMER MEETS The Elite Swim Club and the Madison Community Pool (“McP”) will host two separate swim meets this summer during the weekend of Saturday, July 9th and Sunday, July 10th. Believing that the local area swimmers need more opportunities to compete against higher level competition during the summer months, Elite and McP have come up with a unique formula to provide that competition. On Saturday morning July 9th, Elite, McP & New Jersey Swimming will host a 12 & Under New Jersey Swimming sanctioned swim meet at the Madison Community Pool (located at Rosedale Avenue at Parkside-just off Route 124-Main Street Madison). This meet will be held solely for swimmers currently registered with New Jersey Swimming (all Elite swimmers are so registered). All Elite Wave Golds and Wave Blacks whom are 12 & Under and whom are training with Elite this summer will be entered in this meet by Bill. Those Elite swimmers who are not training with Elite but would like to compete in this meet will need to contact Bill to enter (and pay the required entry fee). On Sunday morning July 10th, Elite and McP will host a meet for 12 & Unders for all swimmers participating in summer leagues. All Elite swimmers will be encouraged to enter this meet thru their summer league teams. The entry deadlines for both meets is Wednesday, June 29. Meet information on both meets will be posted shortly on Elite’s website. All 12 & Under Elite swimmers are encouraged to participate in each meet!
